Warning Description: Heat Advisory

Warning Date: 3:58 am CDT on August 8, 2015

WarningSum:...Heat Advisory Remains In Effect From Noon Today To 9 Pm Cdt
This Evening...

Warning Message:A heat advisory remains in effect from noon today to 9 PM CDT
this evening. 
* Temperature...afternoon heat index values will range from 105 to
  109 degrees. These hot conditions will continue through early
  evening before gradually cooling off.
* Impacts...this excessive heat makes heat related illness such 
  as heat exhaustion and heat stroke more likely...and such 
  illnesses can develop quickly. 
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Take extra precautions...if you work or spend time outside. When
possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work...the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency...call 9 1 1.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned
room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and
neighbors.

Warning Message:At 619 am CDT...Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from Wellsville to 5 miles
southeast of Gridley...and moving east at 25 mph.
Dime size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with
these storms.
Locations impacted include...
Ottawa...Garnett...Burlington...Wellsville...Richmond...Colony...
Greeley...Princeton...Lane...Rantoul...Westphalia...Harris and Le
Roy.
This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 179 and 198.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 15 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
